Thirwood Place, Cape Cod’s premier active senior living community, is a special place where you’ll experience resort style amenities that cater to your health and wellbeing. Designed with your comfort and lifestyle in mind, Thirwood invites you to enjoy the pleasures of life in elegant, gracious surroundings.
Our luxurious heated pool is maintained at 88 degrees and offers a daily group aqua aerobics class and open swim times for relaxing on your own. A soothing hot tub is also available. Men’s and ladies locker rooms are available with showers and changing areas.
The fitness center boasts a Universal-style weight circuit, free weights, treadmills, exer-cycles, rowing and elliptical machines, and weekly yoga and meditation classes.
As a Thirwood resident you have complimentary access to the nearby Blue Rock Golf Course, a Golf magazine “Top 10 Par Three Course” worldwide.
In addition to the nature trail around Flax Pond, paved walking trails through gardens and the wooden overlook wind around Thirwood Place. In the colder months, Thirwood has a marked, one-mile indoor walking loop.
The greenhouse, complete with potting stations, is a great spot to re-pot plants, start vegetables from seed, and plant flowers. Thirwood residents have access to raised garden beds outdoors as well.
A great spot to soak up the sun and relax, or join a game of bocce, croquet, or cornhole. The sundeck is also the location for our many barbecues and clambakes in warmer weather.
Engage in some friendly competition and enjoy some “play time” with a friend! The game room features a pool table, chess and checkers, board games, and jigsaw puzzles.
The library is managed by our residents. The collection is updated regularly, and the library has cozy nooks to enjoy some quiet reading at your leisure. Featuring New York Times best sellers, daily newspapers, and monthly magazines, as well as a business center computer with printer and copier.
Enjoy a constantly-changing variety of entertainment in our auditorium, including shows, dance recitals, classical duos, and dinner theater. Community socials and quarterly Resident Association meetings also take place in the auditorium.
Join us for fun, instructor-led classes and exciting activities like cooking groups, arts and crafts, painting, bingo, and more.
Offering cuts, coloring, and perms. Manicures and pedicures are also available.
The Mugar Club Suite is home to our card players. Bridge, rummy, and mah jongg are among the favorites. Two dart boards are also available.
Thirwood Place offers two distinctive lifestyle options to fit your needs: Independent Living and Assisted Living.
CompareWhen’s the right time to move to a senior living community?
Sooner rather than later. After moving in, many new residents wish they had moved sooner. Waiting for a health condition that requires support can be an unfortunate choice for those who would otherwise – in good health – embrace the active lifestyle and pursue their interests vigorously.
What does my entrance fee cover?
The entrance fee retains your chosen residence and funds the community’s care continuum and long-term capital improvements. Therefore, it’s your investment in your future care. Depending on the contract you select, a large portion of your entrance fee is returned to you, or to your estate, when you leave the community.
Must I purchase a residence?
No. There is a nominal one-time administration fee paid prior to entry and regular monthly fees, but you’ll have no property taxes, town or city utilities, or resale concerns for you or your heirs to worry about. In fact, your residence is a yearly tax deduction.
How do I reserve a residence?
Simply provide a deposit of $1000 with a completed reservation application.
Is my deposit refundable?
Yes. If you change your mind or your plans change prior to moving in, your deposit will be refunded.
May I bring my own furniture?
Yes. All residences are provided unfurnished, and each includes major appliances such as refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, washer, and dryer. You just need to bring everything that reminds you of home.
May I have guests in for meals?
Yes. Thirwood Place offers complimentary meals for guests (based on the resident’s meal plan).
May I have overnight guests?
Yes. Guests may stay in your apartment, and we offer cots for extra visitors. Resident guests may also stay in one of our hotel-style guest suites for a nightly rate.
May I switch to a different unit after I move in?
Yes, you may request a change to a different unit after you move in. When your desired unit or floorplan becomes available, we will help make arrangements for your transfer.
Is additional storage space available?
Yes, each residence is provided with a separate storage room of approximately 32 cubic feet, located on each floor.
May I bring a pet?
Well-behaved dogs and cats are welcome to live at Thirwood Place in designated apartments. Pets must be properly cared for.
Who’s in charge of Thirwood’s activities?
Our activities coordinator is a gifted professional organizer. You may expect a splendid assortment of events, including speaker series, musical performances, and wine tastings. Resident suggestions are encouraged!
